ProfitFinder is an iOS app, currently on TestFlight, for sizing up an item on the spot. You scan it with the camera and the app returns a profit estimate, so you can decide quickly while you're in front of the product.
It is built with Expo and React Native and styled with NativeWind. A Hono backend with Drizzle and PostgreSQL handles the data side, with Sentry for error tracking. Subscriptions run through RevenueCat, with ads via Google AdMob.
Status: in development, on TestFlight. Not yet on the App Store.
Highlights
- Camera scan with an instant profit estimate
- Expo and React Native with a Hono backend
- Subscriptions via RevenueCat
Challenges
- Deciding whether an item is worth buying usually means doing the margin math by hand in the store.
Outcomes
- Camera-based profit estimate
- Expo app with a Hono and PostgreSQL backend
- On TestFlight, App Store pending
